Promoting Inclusive Markets and Financial Systems

The following note offers a general overview of the collective self-managed savings and credit mechanisms in the region. The first section introduces informal mechanisms for collective savings and credit without external funding. The second part introduces experiences where external funding plays a role. Finally, the last section closes the article with some brief thoughts on the role of these experiences in the realm of financial inclusion.
