SummaryThis manual was written using the experiences of IFAD's Asian programs, as a practical tool for gender interventions aiming to empower women, better their families and communities, and help lift them all out of poverty. It is not intended to be conceptual or to only offer instructions on how to implement an intervention, but rather to provide immediately applicable information. The manual spells out:
Four main questions for gender analysis,
The spillover effects of programs targeting women's development,
The positive impact of access to productive assets and technology,
Training women in new economic activities (unlike programs for traditional activities such as vegetable growing),
Gender sensitization and dealing with male resistance to women's empowerment,
Designing an intervention's goals and measuring its results.
