A maturing microfinance industry needs standardized methods to measure and analyze financial performance and risk management. SEEP’s training on Measuring Financial Performance of Microfinance Institutions addresses this need. It is a critical training for practitioners working with microfinance institutions, non-governmental organizations, non-bank financial institutions or companies, commercial banks, rural banks, credit unions, and cooperatives.

Participants will learn the SEEP FRAME ratios in a two–day or three-day training course, which will take them from financial statement and operational data input to ratio calculation and trend analysis.  They will learn to develop a consistent performance monitoring framework based on international standards that can help managers make decisions, inform boards of directors, and report to donors, investors and other interested parties.

The training is based on SEEP’s Microfinance Financial Reporting Standards Measuring Financial Performance of Microfinance Institutions. It includes the new ratios developed by the microfinance global community in 2010. Hundreds of participants around the globe have been trained in the SEEP  FRAME ratios throughout the years and have expressed their appreciation to their applicability, and to the trainings’ interactive nature. They often say that they have found “simple explanations for issues that seemed difficult before”.

Who should attend

The SEEP Frame Training course is designed for anyone interested in microfinance ratios and their application.   The three-day course is specifically designed for those with basic knowledge of financial statement analysis and those who are new to microfinance.  The two-day course is designed for those who have implemented ratio analysis systems before in their institutions and are interested in the SEEP FRAME ratios and how they can be implemented.

About the trainer

The training will be delivered by Howard Brady, an 18-year veteran of microfinance.  Howard's experience comes from working in public accounting for 6 years as well as having consulted with hundreds of MFIs in areas of financial management, internal controls and internal audit, risk management, and financial/operational projections.
