Third National Conference for Savings-Led Microfinance
Live & Learn Environmental Education Cambodia, in collaboration with Oxfam, is hosting the third national conference for Savings-Led Microfinance, "Saving Groups - Going to Scale for People". The conference will gather representatives of international, local non-governmental organizations, development agencies, government and private institutions who are promoting, supporting and implementing community-based microfinance (saving groups) program in Cambodia. The conference will mainly run as a platform for strategic discussion among the participants representing different sectors to identify the common approach in taking forward and scaling up the community-based microfinance program.
The conference will also serve as starting point for participants who represent different saving group model developers, promoters, or implementers to together identify their role in making sure that different approaches work together for the benefit of the poor. Members of the donor and international development community, and government are also encouraged to attend.
Invited speakers are from various backgrounds, including local NGOs, community saving champions, and government institutions. In a participatory environment, attendees will be challenged to think beyond their traditional service deliveries, and to shape together the next generation of saving group initiatives. The main question should be “What and how we can work together in order to scale up effectively the saving groups in Cambodia for our target people?”
