Promoting Inclusive Markets and Financial Systems
Results of a Baseline Assessment from Six Countries in Africa and Asia
Agriculture can be an important engine of growth and poverty reduction. However, the sector is underperforming in many
countries in part because women, who are often a crucial resource in agriculture and the rural economy, face constraints that
reduce their productivity.
This report is the result of baseline studies carried out in 2012 to establish the status of women in agriculture in six countries;
Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, Mali, Bangladesh, and India as part of CARE USA’s Women in Agriculture Project, Pathways.
