MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) looks forward to welcoming supporters to the 2015 MEDA Convention in Richmond, Va., Nov 5-8. David Greene, host of NPR’s Morning Edition, will headline the annual event, which will take place at the Omni Richmond Hotel.
The convention, a long-time symbol of the excitement of MEDA's world-changing organization, will also feature James Loewen, author of the American Book Award-winning Lies my teacher told me. Full and half-day tours will take advantage of Richmond’s rich culture and history, including trips to Colonial Williamsburg, a service trip to a Richmond foodbank, and a tour of Richmond International Raceway.
“The Richmond Convention promises to be a time of networking, inspiration, and fun while offering our supporters a unique opportunity to engage with our international work,” says Dave Warren, MEDA’s chief engagement officer.
Sessions at this year’s convention include an afternoon of TED-style MEDAnext Talks, reports from the field by innovative project staff and cutting-edge commentaries on the intersection of faith and work in today’s world. The convention will also offer time for networking, reconnecting and reflecting on MEDA’s mission and values.
