Making Digital Payments Safe for All: Eight Practices to Protect People from Risk
Adopting digital payments could lead to a $3.7 trillion GDP boost by 2025, create 95 million new jobs, and save $110 billion annually in leakages in emerging countries, according to the McKinsey Global Institute. To reach these projections while reducing poverty and driving inclusive growth, public and private sector actors need to work together to create a safe and reliable ecosystem for making and receiving digital payments.
Join The Better Than Cash Alliance for a live webinar with experts from Paytm in India, Tigo Pesa in Tanzania, and the Banking Superintendency from Peru who will reveal key insights on how to responsibly navigate the transition from cash to digital payments in emerging countries.
The webinar will show you how you can apply insights from the new Responsible Digital Payments Guidelines, featuring eight good practices that are relevant for those making or facilitating payments as well as for those regulating or overseeing them. The guidelines resulted from several years of consultations with industry stakeholders. For consumers to adopt and use digital payments, they need to be protected from risks such as loss of privacy, exposure to fraud, and unauthorized fees.
What does this mean? Service providers need to proactively take steps to protect consumers, bulk payers need to require implementation of responsible practices, and regulators need to ensure a sound consumer protection regulatory framework.
Participants will learn about key practices to reduce risks faced by consumers and how leading players from around the world have applied them to advance a more responsible digital payments ecosystem.
