Training Provider: Catholic Relief Services

Date: Thursday, September 25

Description:  This training will provide a comprehensive overview of CRS's proven Private Service Provider (fee-for-service) model for cost-effective scaling up of savings groups. It includes both the rationale and benefits; as well as the implementation timeline, process and tools; and keys to success. The training will be participatory, with hands-on activities. All participants will receive a copy of the PSP Implementation Manual. 

In addition to this 1-day intro course a full, five-day course will be offered in November in Rwanda, in conjunction with the Carsey School of Public Policy for those that want to adopt this methodology. A discount of $300 will offered to those who attend the SEEP training and also register for the SMDP Rwanda course. Visit this link for more details.

Target Audience: Savings group and other microfinance practitioners interested in learning about a practical approach to fee-for-service group formation.

Trainers: 

marc bavois

Mr. marc bavois is CRS's Regional Technical Advisor for East Africa. With over 10 years of microfinance experience, he is the author of the PSP Implementation Manual, and currently serves as the technical and training lead for CRS's Expanding Financial Inclusion project, which will reach over half a million members using the PSP approach, with an emphasis on outreach to the very poor.

Marcel Newsome
 
Mr. Marcel Newsome is CRS TA  for Microfinance and Livelihoods with over 21 years of experience in managing and implementing economic development programs. He joined the CRS MF team in February 2013. Prior to working for CRS he worked for Women for Women International, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the South Africa Department of Trade and Industry, World Vision, and World Relief.
