A member-driven SPM strategy: Case study on TAMFI (Tanzania)

In 2012, the Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) implemented a 12-month Social Performance Start-up Fund project, which was designed to bring much-needed social investment to the market through improved social performance management (SPM) and reporting. The network took a strongly a needs-driven approach to its member support, starting with a survey of current member SPM practice. Importantly, TAMFI everaged the opportunity of this project to improve its own SPM — becoming more focused on understanding and meeting its members’ needs.
