Our Mission

Connecting microenterprise practitioners in a global learning community.

Our Vision

A sustainable income in every household.

Our Values

Member-Driven

SEEP members govern the network and drive its agenda.  Through open and frequent communication, SEEP strives to understand and respond to member interests.

Practitioner-Based

SEEP gathers the experience of practitioners in an inclusive, neutral space for sharing and developing knowledge, and disseminates this knowledge broadly to advance microenterprise practice.  SEEP itself aspires to learn from its own and others' experience to provide the best services possible.

Innovative

SEEP aims to be creative and inventive in its own initiatives and services, and to motivate its members' programs to do likewise.  It is through searching for new solutions and refining what is already known that we together can overcome the challenge of eradicating poverty.

Sustainable

The needs of poor households dwarf donor resources.  Demand-driven services must cover delivery costs to allow for scalability.  As practitioners succeed in creating or facilitating sustainable processes and institutions, so too must their supporting networks.

Transparent

SEEP strives for full transparency in its own operations and in the services its members provide to microentrepeneurs.  SEEP is open and honest about its experiences and those captured in learning initiatives.

Inclusive

SEEP aims to respect and engage all people, placing high value on the diversity of experience that is represented.

About SEEP

The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network connects microenterprise practitioners from around the world to develop practical guidance and tools, build capacity, and help set standards to advance our common vision: a sustainable income in every household.

In 1985, SEEP was founded by a group of practitioners who believed that sharing practical experiences within a trusting environment would result in improved microenterprise development practices. Today, our members are active in over 180 countries and reach over 23 million micro-entrepreneurs and their families. SEEP’s most valuable resource is the experience of its members and their commitment to collaboration. This exchange utilizes problem solving, experimentation, and peer-to-peer learning in order to identify common obstacles and develop solutions for reducing poverty.

The unique ability to convene practitioners in a global learning network results in credible, practical approaches that increase the power of enterprise to reduce poverty worldwide.
